On 29th September 2018, a group of 30 MBA students by the initiative and guidance of Dr. Nilanjan Ray, Associate Professor of School of Management, Adamas University, visited Metro Dairy Limited, Barasat, Kolkata. The objective of the visit was to see the first hand application of academic knowledge of different subject areas in the plant and to collect relevant data. Visiting students were from Human Resource, Marketing and Finance specializations. Students got the opportunity to interact with the management personnel of the plant and got to know about the Productions & Operations, Supply Chain Management, Quality Control Systems of Metro Dairy. Students got a tour inside of the plant where they could observe the production procedures, operation processes, packaging and storage of dairy products. Students gained practical knowledge of managerial and operational aspects of the plant’s functioning. The management of Metro Dairy was kind enough to provide “Certificate of Industry Visit” to every student.
Here is what our students said about their experiences.
“I got to know a lot of practicality of the industry and its production, operations and supply chain management. I learnt how theory and practical varies when it concerns implementation. It was a wonderful exposure and very good experience for me. I hope we get to visit more industries in the near future”. – Sayantani Mukherjee, MBA Final Year, Specialization – HR and Marketing.
“The company managers gave us a warm welcome. We were told about purification, storage, packaging and transfer of Dairy products to ultimate consumers. They informed us about the channel of distributors and individual salespersons for huge market coverage. It was a fun and practical learning, which we experienced that day”. – Sweta Jha, MBA First Year.
We express our deep gratitude and thank the Metro Dairy Limited for their hospitality and giving our students this wonderful opportunity to gain huge practical knowledge and vivid experiences.
