Department of Economics of Adamas University conducted an Educational Tour with the Under Graduate and Post Graduate students to the Happy Valley Tea Estate, Darjeeling on 20-23 Feb 2019. The learning outcome of the tour was mainly twofold:
1. Industry visit: To make students aware of the production process in the Tea industry of West Bengal which is the major contributor to the export of India.
2. Socioeconomic Survey on Tea Estate workers: To know the livelihood and practice of labor laws and social security benefits in the Tea Estates of West Bengal
Moreover, it was a field visit that helped the students to learn how to conduct a primary survey including preparation of questionnaire, data collection, analysis, and report writing.
