1.Introduction to the course

India is poised to see a rapid growth in the area of logistics and supply chain, especially as it integrates with the global supply chains. Currently, 80% of the sector is unorganised and there is a rapid movement towards formalisation of the sector. This is accentuated by the entry of multi-national companies into this strategically important area. However, there is dearth of skilled and knowledgeable professionals in this area. This course has been drawn up with support from the industry and has been designed to provide the skills which are in demand in order to perform well in this profession.

This is a two year, full time program offering an MBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management course. This is a domain specific course which concentrates on preparing the students to enter the Supply Chain Management industry. The second year of the program is devoted to on-the-job training to make the students fully integrated with industry requirements. After completion, the students are thus ready to be immediately be absorbed by the industry

  1. Introduction to the course

The evaluation of pharmaceutical sector in India may be set into four stages.  The first stage is the period before the year 1970 in that time the Indian market was dominated by foreign companies with little domestic participation. But today India acquired 14th rank in global pharma industry as on 2005. India is projected 10th largest market in pharma industry. Being a highly organised sector, the Indian pharmaceutical market is expected to expand at a CAGR of 23.9% to reach US$55 by 2020.

These two –years, full time MBA in Pharmaceutical Management course is a domain specific course which concentrates on preparing the students to enter the pharmaceutical sectors. After completion, the students can join the pharmaceuticals industry, some also join consultancy companies.

This programme is not old. MBA, Pharmaceutical Management is received well by the industry. The main focus of this course is to prepare students so that they may join the pharmaceutical industry as an executives/ managers after completion of the course. This course concentrates on Economics and law, (laws related to pricing and other drug industry related laws, on IPR,) Production systems, Good Manufacturing Practices, Quality Assurance, Finance, Sales and Marketing, Good Marketing Practices, Costing & Accounting, Strategic Procurement in Pharma, supply chain and distribution practices. With the advent of fourth industrial revolution along with pervasiveness of big data and machine learning, there is a huge dependence of today’s industries on administration, governance and analysis of large volumes of both structured and unstructured data. In today’s world of around 7.5 billion 2.5 quintillion bytes of data gets generated in 24 hours. The business world too is going through unprecedent trends . Some of the notable trends :

  • The entire global software market is forecast to be worth $628B in revenue, with $302B from big data applications.(Forrester,2020)
  • 37% annual increase in demand for Data Scientists and Business analytics professionals and related technical positions today (LinkedIn,2020)

Intensive on the job training in form of internship (or Summer Training) at the end of Sem-2 (or year 1)

A report based on the summer training shall be submitted within four weeks from the commencement of the third semester.

 

Project Work:

Unlike internship, the project work must be conducted on a topic chosen from the specialization areas in collaboration with different industry/ organizations.

The students must undertake a Live Project worth 8 credits during the IV semester . The student is also required to submit a detailed report to the school/university and present the work to the faculty panel for evaluation/assessment
